On Call Program
The purpose of the Nursing On Call is to have a trained staff so that a quick and efficient response is given when an emergency service arises with a hospice patient. This will be activated from Monday to Friday from 5:00 in the afternoon until 8:00 in the morning of the next day and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 24 hours. Most common emergency situations that should be reported to On Call:
- Sharp chest pain
- Severe shortness of breath
- Active bleeding
- Exacerbation of pain even with medications
- Tube and drain removal
- Persistent diarrhea
- Decreased urine over a long period of time
- Persistent fever
- Falls or trauma
- Problems with medical equipment
