What is palliative care?

Palliative care to improve the patient's quality of life

Palliative care is a specialized medical approach that aims to improve the quality of life of patients facing serious or chronic illnesses. Its primary goal is to alleviate suffering and help people live with greater comfort and dignity throughout the course of their illness.

This type of care focuses on relieving pain and other physical symptoms, while also providing emotional, social, and spiritual support to the patient and their family. Furthermore, it promotes clear communication between the medical team, the patient, and their loved ones to make informed decisions about care.

Unlike hospice care, patients receiving palliative care can continue their medical treatments while receiving additional support to manage the effects of their condition and improve their overall well-being.

The palliative care team assesses and treats various symptoms that affect the patient's quality of life. Through medical evaluation, physical, emotional, and functional discomforts that may arise during the course of a chronic or advanced illness are identified. Based on this assessment, a personalized management plan is developed to alleviate discomfort, improve daily well-being, and allow the patient to maintain the greatest possible comfort and dignity throughout their care process.

Our approach includes support in various aspects of the patient's life, providing medical care, guidance for the family, and strategies to improve quality of life. Through personalized care, we strive to alleviate discomfort, promote comfort, and offer a respectful and compassionate care environment at every stage of the process.

Emotional Support

Support for patients and families

Therefore, the treatment includes:

  • Managing anxiety and depression to improve emotional well-being

  • Individual counseling with professional support

  • Support groups to share experiences and receive support

  • Family meetings to strengthen communication and support

  • Referrals to mental health professionals when necessary
